Wedding & Marriage

Talk about planning a wedding, every single and married women you know will have their own ideas. From what type of gown to the food and also not forgetting all the different customs and family traditions.

Is wedding all about ...

The best and most creative proposal? (more attempts if the girl refuses to say Yes after you have climbed the highest mountain to declare your love)

Or how many carat is the diamond ring?

How bout the excitement of choosing the perfect wedding gown to fit the never perfect body?

Then there are the ho0-ha of choosing the best venue for reception and all the planning for the perfect wedding.

Honeymoon in Maldives if your darling is loaded with hard $ and not just a bunch of plastic cards!

Reality will step in when all the wedding and honeymoon excitement faded to the back. The most important is how to make the marriage work. Never assume that your other half will understand what's on your mind if you don't speak out! So communicate is vital to a successful relationship/marriage.

Don't commit in a marriage if ...

He controls your life and you can't do anything, go anywhere without his approval.

He is not that into you (he doesn't care even if you threaten to jump down from a 5-storey building)!

He doesn't know the role of a husband and at the same time serve his Empress Dowager (mommy)!

You don’t love him enough to accept all his flaws, tantrums, bad temper, attitude, unreasonable demands and living with his family members.

You think his $ is your $$ and your $ is your $$$! This will not happen in marriage life honey! Get real!

You have this wish that you can change him once married! If he does not change his lousy attitude for the past 20 years, what makes you think you can? Snap out of it will ya!

He expects you to be the new washing machine, rice-cooker, broom, baby-sitter, nanny taking over from his mommy's job.

Because all your friends / schoolmates / colleagues / relatives / neighbors have done it and you are the last passenger in the bus-stop still waiting for the last bus to approach.

We can't ignore the fact there are fail marriages out there but there are also everlasting ones. My sincere wish with God's blessing, is for you and me to find 'happily ever after'.

Love

Love is the greatest gift from God. I can never imagine a world without Love.

Come Valentine's Day and you will find all the flower shops with filled with bouquet and bouquet of flowers, teddy bears, chocolates all wrapped up waiting for the 'sui yue'. It’s absurd to pay $10 for a single stalk of rose when you can buy one easily for $2 during normal days. How about waiting in line for 1 hour just to get a seat in a restaurant? Why do we have to go thru all these ho-haa every Valentine's Day? To boost the economy of all those F&B, flowers and gift shop business?

Tell me folks, do you confess/express your love only on 14 Feb in the whole year?

You only buy flowers/gifts/chocolates for your love ones on 14 Feb?

You only take her out for a decent meal on 14 Feb but eat mamak food the rest of the days?

You only made the effort because everybody is doing it and you don’t want to lose face?

Then there are those people who love to get married on 14 Feb with 99 other couples and create a mass wedding! Err no other auspicious day to get married?

Love should be a 24/7. Love your partner, your family, your friends, your pets and yourself.
Happy Valentine’s Day today, tomorrow and the next 365 days.

What is fashion?

Spring 2007 collection by Viktor & Rolf

Who determines what type of fashion is the most trendy and what clothes to wear for each season? Those so called designer who present their out of this world collection @ each fashion show wore by those size-0 skinny anorexia models? Did you ever notice that they are not wearing the dress but more like a hanger to the dress itself?

As the Chinese New Year is fast approaching, I’m also sort of doing a fast last minute shopping. Last weekend went to search for a decent CNY clothes but with no luck! I don’t know. Nowadays, I find it’s so difficult to buy clothes.

Sizes are often too small ... only fit for those teenagers or a size-0 women. The clothes manufacturer obviously don't realize that real women have curves (i.e. breast and bum) and not flat like a washing board! Most of the clothes are too tight you practically have to carry an oxygen tank to breath! And the problem with most people is that they will just buy anything on the rack as long as everybody is wearing it. Follow the trend rite? Bullshit! You have to wear the dress not the dress wear you!

I was walking past a shop in Sg Wang last weekend when I saw a nice white shirt on a mannequin. Guess what? Its so small and tight that the shirt can't even be buttoned up on the mannequin! How fashionable is that?

Lousy design with the unnecessary pattern in the wrong place!

Higher end brands, e.g. Gucci, Dior, Channel have variety of sizes but I don't can even afford the sleeve let alone the whole dress! How to buy?

Cheap low quality materials made in some small factory in some ulu place but charge high price.

Yes wearing a 4 inch high heel shoe is sexy to the feet but try walking in a shopping mall for half a day. You will feel like wearing the twin towers on your feet! I did not buy casual shoe for the past 8 months except for my Nike running shoe back in December, just can't find any to my liking.

Call me out of fashioned but do they made any comfortable yet stylish clothes/shoes in KL anymore? Now I know why people keep going back to Hong Kong for shopping. Probably I have to source my clothing from traveling overseas ... but I'll discover the joy of buying clothes again instead of frustration and disappointment every time :(

Hair culture

Hair is the crown of a woman’s head.

A good hair cut will enhance the feature of our face and the outlook of our appearance. But without one, you will either look like the actress from The Ring or a bird nest just landed on top of your head!

Different hairstyles will suite different type of face shape. I’ve tried few different hairstyles like the re-bonding (few years ago when it’s the most trendy thing to do), cut it short like Faye Wong, perm @ the age of 11, bob style and layered.

The other day I went for a hair cut and the stylist told me that we need to trim our hair often because if the hair is too long, nutrition from the root will not be able to reach to the end of the hair. That’s why the end is always dry and brittle if hair is too long. Plus hair loss. The stylist commented my long hair is too flat … no style :( So he suggested a good trim and also layered it from the top so that the hair will have some body. He actually cut quite a lot and the length now is just below the shoulder. End result ok la nothing great. But one thing good is I use less shampoo now (as I wash my hair everyday) and experience lesser hair loss.

I know some people who never change their hairstyles for the last 20 years. They are unable to accept a new look. All they ever do is to trim 1/2 inch of their hair and this is the new hairstyle for them. Others just screwed up their hair by some stylist whose skill is from the past 20 years ago when they first open their Kedai Gunting Rambut Unisex.

I would like to share some of my personal opinions here:

Never ever do re-bonding if you are of those who have short hair or very less hair. Re-bonding will make the face enlarge by 3x. From far people will notice your face which is so huge until can host a few banquet tables! If you really want to have straight silky hair, let your hair grow to shoulder length, then do normal straightening. Procedure just like re-bonding. Only difference is they use less chemicals and shorten the time.

You absolutely must @ least perm your hair once in your hair-time. Just to see how you will look. Don’t believe it when some people said that perming will add 10 years to your age. It all depends on the style and type of perm.

Find a good stylist for your short hair. Style to make it look chic and smart. Short hairstyles will look stunning with colours.

Colour can improve a person’s outlook. A darker colour (i.e. dark brown) will make the face look slimmer. Highlights hair in strips with 2 colours. And I don’t mean mixing red with purple and end up looking like a xmas tree ornaments. But the same colour family with different tone. It will make your hair look sexy.

Invest in a good shampoo and conditioner. Never buy the 2-1 type. No good for the hair. Wash the hair well especially in this humid weather of M’sia. Purchase a good hair mask / treatment and DIY @ least twice a month to give your hair the necessary vitamins boost. Hair loss, dry scalp, dandruff, etc needs to be taken care off.

A comb or a brush, which has a history of 5000 years is something you have to use for your hair everyday. And get a good one instead of the $2 cheapalak comb.

Have a good hair day girls.
