A Woman's Breast Friend
Do you watch Oprah Winfrey Show? It’s one of my favorites American talk show! In one of the shows, Oprah did an "uplifting" for the women in her audience and also set up her own bra boutique, and dozens of professional fitters helped hundreds of women find the right bras.
Do you buy bra just because they look nice and lacy even though they don't quite fit? Most of the sales girls are not professional and they don’t even know the basic requirements for a good bra. (I bet you some of them even got their own size wrong!) Their job is just to shoves new arrivals to our faces the minute we step into their territory!
Do you know that a woman’s breast will change in shape and size over 6 times in her life due to weight loss/gain, exercise, birth control or childbirth and medication? According to survey, a staggering 85% of women are wearing the wrong bra size!
I used to be part of the 85% until I came across a specific brand and the sales lady taught me one of the most important lesson in a woman’s life. From then onwards, I always make sure that a good fit is more important than any designs. So I've decided to share what I've learned with my fellow sisters …
How to tell if you are wearing the right bra?
Cup sizes should be proportional to the body frame. Bra should lift and center our bust line where it needs to be. A good bra will ensure we have the maximum lift and support. Selecting the appropriate bra for the different activities is important. You can wear Wonderbra but if they suffocate until you look like half dead, I think you should ditch that fast!
Your strap will not fall down (and you don’t need to pull them in every few minutes … especially not in front of that hot dude!) The band provides 90% of a bra’s support. Proper position of a bra should be level across the bodice front to back.
Wearing a large band will ensure that your flesh by the side and back are property flatten up to show a nice seam line. If the bra brand is too loose, it will ride up and your girls will head south! It will also cause unsightly back fat!
(Tips: You should be able to fit two fingers under the strap on your shoulder. The bra should fit snugly around and you should not be pulling up the shoulder straps throughout the day. If you're having a hard time putting 2 fingers under the band, then move the hooks to the loosest fitting eyes. If it is still tight on the loosest fitting, then try on one in the next up band size.)
Have you notice that some women walk with their breasts swinging from left to right or bounce from top to bottom? Your asset is not a playground so please do the swinging exercise elsewhere. A firm fitting bra does not shift on your body with wear and active lifestyles.
If you raise your arms up (do this a few times), the bra should stay against your body, not lifting up or off. Make sure that when you put on a bra, you push the side of the breast completely into the cup. You don't want to be spilling out of the cup - not from the top, bottom or sides. Breast should be peeping and not popping out! From the side, the cup should have a smooth outline.
You should have 2 separate breasts not just a “one big boob”. Under wire bras should rest against your rib cage with a soft cotton casing.
A great fitting bra can make you look taller, will define your waist, and even make you look slimmer! It's never too late to take good care of our breast friend ... starting from now.
And oh BTW, bra is the greatest invention ever for women. Period.

When Safety Means Luxury
Recently, I've a high schoolmate who has been working (legally) in Mississippi returned for a holiday after 7 years. I asked her about the safety in the State and she commented that she feel so much safer on the other side than her own country! This is because she heard so many freaking horror experience from her friends about safety in KL. One even encountered near death-taxi robbery in broad daylight! Well ... I'm not surprise.
10 years ago, I've been pick-pocketed @ the downtown bus station while boarding the bus home. No luck on the fella because I caught him in time! My sister got her handphone stolen by pickpockets while boarding the LRT @ KLCC station. A burglar broke into our house in board daylight and stole the money. I have a friend who got attacked and stabbed in front of her own house when she opens the gate to park her car @ 7.30 pm! Thank God she survives.
Most of us have heard or experienced unfortunate incidents. It becomes very frustrating when ...
we freaked out every time we hear the sound of motorcycle approach
we have to hang on to our bag everywhere we go ... cafes, cinema, shopping
we have to look left, look right and back to left not only when crossing the road but also when we have to go beyond our gates
we are driving and hoping that some Mat Kapchais don't pick on us as their next victim!
robbers hijacks car and driver in broad daylight at the busiest street
we hold keys as defense weapon
we have to keep alert and look pass our shoulders to see who is behind us when we are walking alone
we have to choose between stop jogging alone in the park or bring a Rottweiler along
we took away little children's hope to go out and play freely
patrolling policemen on the street is a rare sight to behold (but a nightmare to foreign workers!)
high price gated homes is one of the main selling point from property developers
So when safety becomes a luxury, we have to protect them by all means.
Even if it means we have to install extra locks in our home or paying higher maintenance fees or buying a solid steering lock-cum-weapon for our car, learning self-defense when our bones are cracking up or avoid clubbing when you found out that babe/hunk you are trying to attract will only turn up @ 12 midnite!
Living in constant fear and insecurity sucks folks! My only hope is that one day KL will be nominated as one of the safest city in the world. Is that too much to ask?

East Meets West
I wanted to try something new for the October mission (although it's nothing new in the world of cuisine but to me, it's still a never-before-attempt). Spaghetti cook in oriental style.
Ingredients:
Linguine 10
Chicken fillet (to be marinated with soy sauce, oyster sauce, sesame oil and pepper)
Shitake mushrooms
Asparagus
Red capsicum
Garlic & onions
Soy sauce
Oyster sauce
Method:
Cook the linguine until the required texture is achieved (about 9 minutes). Remove, rinse in cold water, drain and set aside.
Heat the wok and add in the onions and sliced garlic. Stir-fry until fragrant and put in the chicken fillet. Stir well for 1 minute.
Add in the mushrooms and asparagus, and continue to stir-fry for 1 minute.
Add the linguine and capsicum, splash in some soy sauce and oyster sauce to taste and stir-fry evenly.
Well ... the taste not bad at all. I think I can cook this for the next family gathering.
