A Woman's Breast Friend

Do you watch Oprah Winfrey Show? It’s one of my favorites American talk show! In one of the shows, Oprah did an "uplifting" for the women in her audience and also set up her own bra boutique, and dozens of professional fitters helped hundreds of women find the right bras.

Do you buy bra just because they look nice and lacy even though they don't quite fit? Most of the sales girls are not professional and they don’t even know the basic requirements for a good bra. (I bet you some of them even got their own size wrong!) Their job is just to shoves new arrivals to our faces the minute we step into their territory!

Do you know that a woman’s breast will change in shape and size over 6 times in her life due to weight loss/gain, exercise, birth control or childbirth and medication? According to survey, a staggering 85% of women are wearing the wrong bra size!

I used to be part of the 85% until I came across a specific brand and the sales lady taught me one of the most important lesson in a woman’s life. From then onwards, I always make sure that a good fit is more important than any designs. So I've decided to share what I've learned with my fellow sisters …

How to tell if you are wearing the right bra?

Cup sizes should be proportional to the body frame. Bra should lift and center our bust line where it needs to be. A good bra will ensure we have the maximum lift and support. Selecting the appropriate bra for the different activities is important. You can wear Wonderbra but if they suffocate until you look like half dead, I think you should ditch that fast!

Your strap will not fall down (and you don’t need to pull them in every few minutes … especially not in front of that hot dude!) The band provides 90% of a bra’s support. Proper position of a bra should be level across the bodice front to back.

Wearing a large band will ensure that your flesh by the side and back are property flatten up to show a nice seam line. If the bra brand is too loose, it will ride up and your girls will head south! It will also cause unsightly back fat!

(Tips: You should be able to fit two fingers under the strap on your shoulder. The bra should fit snugly around and you should not be pulling up the shoulder straps throughout the day. If you're having a hard time putting 2 fingers under the band, then move the hooks to the loosest fitting eyes. If it is still tight on the loosest fitting, then try on one in the next up band size.)

Have you notice that some women walk with their breasts swinging from left to right or bounce from top to bottom? Your asset is not a playground so please do the swinging exercise elsewhere. A firm fitting bra does not shift on your body with wear and active lifestyles.

If you raise your arms up (do this a few times), the bra should stay against your body, not lifting up or off. Make sure that when you put on a bra, you push the side of the breast completely into the cup. You don't want to be spilling out of the cup - not from the top, bottom or sides. Breast should be peeping and not popping out! From the side, the cup should have a smooth outline.

You should have 2 separate breasts not just a “one big boob”. Under wire bras should rest against your rib cage with a soft cotton casing.

A great fitting bra can make you look taller, will define your waist, and even make you look slimmer! It's never too late to take good care of our breast friend ... starting from now.

And oh BTW, bra is the greatest invention ever for women. Period.
