Her latest gadget

I've been wanting to get my hands on this since the launched but have been struggling with the decision until now. Why now? I'm not sure myself. I was looking at some Apple products yesterday @ Machines KLCC and before my brain can analysis on the purchase, my heart has taken over the job and the next thing I knew I was paying for it :O

Finally ... I bought my first iPod. The new iPod Nano.

Weighting at a mere 1.74 ounces (49.2 grams), it feels so light when you held it. The sleek body of the new iPod Nano is just 2.75 inches in height and 2.06 inches in width. I don't know about you folks but I think it's cool :) It's even better in design than the 1st generation Nano.

There are 2 models, the 4GB (1,000 songs) or 8GB (2,000 songs). You can save up to 3,500 and 7,000 photos respectively (yep, even your 'Edison Chen' wannabe shots but make sure nobody get their hands on your iPod). Data can also be stored via USB flash drive.

It comes with a 2-inch (diagonal) liquid crystal display with blue-white LED backlight with a 320 x 240 resolution which makes images sharper and brighter.

You just need to download iTunes and it will automatically sync all the music and videos. The iPod Nano supports audio formats AAC (16 to 320 Kbps), protected AAC (from iTunes Store), MP3 (16 to 320 Kbps), MP3 VBR, Audible (formats 2, 3, and 4), Apple Lossless, AIFF, and WAV and MPEG4 video in either MOV, MP4, or M4V file formats, with a maximum resolution of 640 x 480 at as much as 30 frames per second.

battery playback
If you are one of those nuts who thinks that 3-hours of sleep is enough, then the built-in rechargeable lithium ion battery allows you to play 24 hours of music and 5 hours of video when fully charged. So you can listen to the tunes when the whole world is sleeping at 3.00 am in the morning.

For more details on the features, go here.

I wanted to buy the cool blue but the 4GB model only comes in silver. Anyway, I'm still happy with my choice.

The casing is a separate buy and cost me a bomb on top of the iPod Nano. Can I be less tech savvy or ... never mind.

Now I'm officially broke. Till my next pay cheque ...

A break ...

Wednesday ... afternoon ... the rains are hitting at the windows of my office. Dark clouds can be seen looming over the skyline. I'm sure traffic will be a mess after work especially downtown. Well, it seems like everyone still drives after all the hoo-ha about RM2.70 per litre of fuel. I would too when we have a public transport system which sucks ... big time!

Right now I don't feel like working. Not in this weather. Just not in the mood. Work can wait. I need a little break and a drink. So I went down to Starbucks and bought a Dark Mocha Frappuccino and watched some latest movie trailers on my 19" flat monitor :)

my desk at this moment

When is Mr 5.30 pm coming? I want to go home and have a nice shower.

If you call this a date ...

I’m not going to give any boring details on a first date with this dude. In brief, we went for lunch then watched some Narnia movie and he sent me home. No chemistry. End of story.

Here comes the exciting second date with him (please bear with me this is a long one) …

He asked if I would like to watch ‘Kung Fu Panda’ and I said ‘why not?’ As I can’t secure any seats online even though it’s 3 days before the show date (apparently all seats have been allocated before the online reservation starts, how’s that for efficiency?).

Anyway I told him we have to get tickets from the counter and agreed to meet @ Pavilion and whoever reached there first can buy. I reached Pavilion @ 12 noon. Called him. He’s still in his office sorting out some stuff. He claims he will ‘fly’ over soon. I will buy the tickets I said. What time I asked … he said try the 2.15 pm show. So I end up queuing for 1/2 hour and paid RM24 for the tickets.

I think somehow he crashed his ‘heli’ because he obviously didn’t ‘fly’ to Pavilion as promised. He showed up only @ 1.30 pm!

Scene: Times bookstore

Me: *browsing a book*
Him: *came over to where I was standing* Wah … so knowledgeable ah?
Me: *did not look up* Ya … you were late so you have to buy lunch
Him: *no respond*
Me: *looked up, looked left and turn right and he was nowhere in sight!* (there’s a couple standing not far from me must be thinking I’m crazy or something talking to myself!) How embarrassing!!!

I waited for a good 5 mins before he showed up from somewhere inside Times.

Me: *quite pissed by now* Are we going to grab a bite before the movie starts?
Him: *mumbling* I need to check out something (and off he went inside again)

I was left standing there again like a fool … so I tried to keep myself occupied by browsing some books and guess what? I picked up Jamie Oliver’s new cookbook. BIG MISTAKE! My stomach was performing live band while looking all the delicious food spread across my eyes!

He finally finished checking whatever he’s trying to checked and decided that he wants lunch. A quick lunch he said because time is running out.

Scene: Wong Kok Char Charn Teang

Me: What are you having?
Him: *looked at the menu, grabbed the order form and ticked his food without even have the courtesy to ask me first!*
Me: …

[ I had pork chop rice and he had … whatever ]

Him: *mumbling and shaking his head at the same time about the increase of fuel price and everything will go up and stuff*
Me: So are you one of those idiots who caused massive traffic jams everywhere because of the RM2.70 per liter fuel price?
Him: Yes … and I waited from 7.00 pm to 11.30 pm to filled up my tank
Me: *shocked and rolled my eyes* Why do you want to waste your time like that? How much can you save?
Him: No … it’s a big difference one … must fill up the tank then only worth it
Me: *gawd* So you should consider yourself lucky la because you only drive a MyV?
Him: *mumbling again and God knows what*

By this time he was eating @ 220km/h because he probably doesn’t want to miss the cinema advertisements! I said there’s still time (everyone knows that if the movie time is 2.15 pm the show never starts until 2.30 pm … duh!).

So, I basically have to forced the food down my throat! Lost my appetite instantly.

Him: So where are you planning to go for your holiday this year?
Me: I’ll probably go to Hanoi
Him: Wow …
Me: Err what’s so ‘wow’ about going Hanoi? It’s not like I’m going to US or Europe?
Him: It’s not the country that matters … it’s about going overseas
Me: Huh? But you can also go overseas …
Him: *shake his head* No no no … I won’t go overseas
Me: Err why?
Him: Because there are earthquake, natural disaster everywhere and it’s not safe to travel
Me: *i was like WTF* But it doesn’t happen everywhere … even if Sichuan have earthquake but cities like Shanghai and Beijing are not affected ma …
Him: No … I’m not going anywhere ... it's safer to stay back in Malaysia
Me: … (can you believe this fella? is his thinking shallow or what?)

After galloping down his food, he has the guts to said “aiyah this time I treat you la”. Duh! We went in the cinema @ 2.00 pm and waited for the advertisements to roll!

Scene: After the show, 4.00 pm.

Him: I need to get a haircut @ Sg Wang … where will you be?
Me: *huh haircut?* Err I’ll hang around Pavilion to buy some stuff
Him: Ok I’ll come and look for you once I’m done with my haircut
Me: Erm sure … call me la

Tell me folks, would you leave your friend in a middle of an outing for a haircut? Gosh this sucks!

Anyway, I did some shopping. Bought a funny book and enjoyed a cup of mocha @ Starbucks.

And I waited ... and waited. I waited for 2 bloody hours!!! He never show up. He never call. Finally I drove home at 6.20 pm feeling pissed and turned into a female version of the Hulk! (He called only 3 days later, when I'm in the middle of my company AGM. I never answer.)

When I told my best friend about this, she laughed and said that she prayed the right man will come along into my life soon and the lousy ones will move along quickly. Well I guess God did answer her prayers. Thank you Lord for the sign.

Lesson learned - never ever believe what you see in a person on a first date. The true personality will only appear later.

One thing for sure … NO MORE 3rd date and I’m definitely NOT WATCHING THE INCREDIBLE HULK WITH HIM if he ever calls again for movie.

Conclusion, 'Kung Fu Panda' is hilarious (highly recommended) but the companion sucks! My sister called him an ‘idiotic jerk’. What say you folks?

30 Hour Famine : You've Got The Power

The 30 Hour Famine is a World Vision event in 21 countries. It started in 1971 when 14 Calgary, Alberta teenagers staged an event in a church basement to raise money for World Vision.

During the event, for 30 hours, participants must abstain from eating food, and instead they typically drink water, fruit juices, or other liquids. Games, fund raisers, and other events may also take place to help teach and educate the participants and others about world hunger all over the world. It is also a time for education and awareness of world hunger, and an understanding of how people go without food for long periods of time.

This year World Vision is taking it a step further and giving Malaysians the power to run their own unique Famine camps. For participation details or if you wish to donate to the famine fund, please go here.

Anyone interested in joining me?

Video Selection - 最好的朋友

Singers from East Asia Music Co HK recorded a song entitled "Best Friend" / 最好的朋友 for the victims of the Sichuan Earthquake.

I would also like to dedicate this song to my best friends since high school ...

You are my shinning light when the world seems to be so dark.
You encouraged me when I said my life sucks.
You laughed with me when I cracked some nut jokes.
You lend me your ears when I can't stop rantings.
You hugged me when I feel like the world is crashing down.
You corrected me when I've done something stupid.
You hold my hands when we walk together.
You said internal beauty is more important when I said my @$$ is expanding each day!
You remember me in your prayers.
Together we believe Jesus will help us to find a balance between work and social life.
God has indeed blessed me with some awesome friends.

Jen, Carol & Margaret, thanks for everything.

What Were They Thinking?

Pix courtesy of PreciousPea

Yesterday, I had a nice lunch @ Delicious cafe 1-Utama with my sister, a cousin who got herself a new job titled Financial Controller, a 3 months pregnant cousin who claims she now looks like Fei Tin (Myolie Wu's character in 肥田囍事 / "To Grow With Love") and her hubby who just returned from their honeymoon in Europe, another cousin who is looking for a new job and her best friend who has the most charming laugh.

Anyway, the purpose of this entry is not about our little gathering but rather, a scene which I would like to share with you folks. Me and the gang all witnessed this @ 3.30 pm inside Delicious cafe.

Actually I never paid attention to this couple who sat opposite us because @ that hour, the place is occupied with 80% full of dining patrons until the girlfriend did something to the boyfriend.

If you have been to the cafe, you will notice there are a row of sofa type of seating with pillows on the left and right side when you enter the cafe. Well, this ' average looking chinese couple' was seated side by side on the sofa and ... making out! I'm not talking about couple holding hands while the other hand trying to struggle with the fork or thigh rubbing or whatever, but ...

The girl was hanging to the boyfriend with her arms hugging his shoulders and biting his ears and neck @ the same time!

Then she proceeds to the lips ... naturally and they were lips locking there for a good 5 mins with full view of other patrons and all the serving crews in the cafe! I'm not kidding here and the funny thing is all of us took turns to peep @ the 'loving couple' ;)

Well, I think I can see eyes popping out and mouths wide open in the cafe!

When the food arrived, only the dude was eating and she only drinks a glass of water the whole time. After taking a sip of water, she continues to 'nibble' his ear while he whacked the food! And by this time, I can't help but noticed that her arms are no longer on his shoulder ... hmm ... she must have placed it somewhere 'below' and that's why I saw a smirk on the dude's face!

Someone said that good food is the next best thing after sex but this ... gawd! Luckily we finished our food before the scene took place! *gulp*

By the time we left @ around 5.00 pm, she was resting her head on his shoulder. Probably too tired after all the 'hard work'. And I don't think they will order any dessert after this.
