The boy from Thailand

This is a follow-up entry to my previous post on World Vison Child Sponsorship Program.

I've decided to sponsor one more child through World Vision Malaysia. If I were to spend my hard-earned salary (with sweat and blood) on unnecessarily items, I might as well use it to do something more meaningful instead.

The 2nd child I sponsored is a 7-year old Thawatchai Singthong from Thailand. He lives with his parents and one brother in Phrai Bueng, a district in Sisaket Province in the north-east Thailand.

Phrai Bueng district comprises of 6 sub-districts with 80 villages. The villagers are mostly farmers and the average income per person is approximately RM116/month). The major problems in this area are unemployment, low income and poor quality of life which indirectly crates a high migration rate as the villagers travel to other states to source for other income.

The goal of World Vision Child Sponsorship Program is to improve the overall living conditions of the children through:

greater opportunity in education

health care and nutrition program

increase in family income with implementation of training program on farming and vocational skills, and the establishment of activity groups (e.g. saving group, housewives group and educational fund group)

construction of water reservoir for farming and family consumption

Please consider this program. Somewhere out there a child's life might change forever because of your help.
